Sister Parish, Inc. promotes intercultural and ecumenical understanding between churches in the United States and faith-based communities in Central America.

Sister Parish, Inc. promotes intercultural and ecumenical understanding by establishing linkages between churches in the United States and faith-based communities in Central America. The linkages are based on direct person-to-person contact, with delegates living in each other’s homes and sharing each other’s realities.

Sister Parish participants travel as peacemakers, opting for and identifying with the poor, being one with Christ and thus reflecting the quality gifts of a shared spirit: a deeper faith, a broader vision, a greater understanding of important issues, and new relationships.

Our church has had a sister parish with Iglesia San Marco Evangelista in Chinautla, Guatemala, since 2001, with delegations traveling north to south and south to north. This experience has built new understandings about another culture, deepened the faith of those participating, and grown a love that is built on mutual dignity and respect.

The next delegation will travel to Guatemala in the summer of 2017. The sister parish committee meets monthly, and we seek to keep close communication with each other through facebook and regular emails.
