Parish Nurse Ministry
Parish nurses are professionals, who are called and committed to the healing ministry of the church, helping meet the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of the members. These are the people who respond to the needs of members and others, demonstrating God’s love in a practical way by caring for others, and extending our journey in faith as Jesus taught us. They are part of the Caring Ministry Program at Faith Lutheran and Journey in Faith. Currently, seven individuals have completed the course at Concordia College.
The Parish Nurse Program is grounded in the tradition of the church, “to preach the kingdom of God and to heal” (Luke 9:2). The parish nurse program recognizes that the ministry of the church community is to proclaim God’s desire that we strive toward an abundant, healthful life.
Parish Nurses are available for the following:
- Education and consultations
- Spiritual enrichment
- Visitations and Telephone calls
- Heart Healthy Brunch
- Health Tips and Displays
- Aerobic exercise classes – ‘Faithfully Fit Forever’
