Home Huddle (FAITH5)
At Faith and Journey, we teach and ask all families to practice a nightly faith ritual we call the Home Huddle. The Home Huddle is the core practice of both GIFT Family Ministry and Head to Heart. Whether families have little kids or big kids, or a combination of both, parents are asked to set aside a few minutes each evening, “huddle up” as a family and do the Faith 5!
Here are the 5 simple steps:
- SHARE your highs and lows every night.
- READ a key Bible verse or story every night
- TALK about how the Bible reading might relate to your highs and lows.
- PRAY for one another’s highs and lows aloud every night.
- BLESS one another before turning out the lights on the day.
We’ve seen countless families be blessed by this simple faith practice that creates openness, honesty, caring and sharing in families. We’ve watched toddlers grow into teenagers who talk openly to their parents. We’ve seen parents in awe of the wisdom of a young person, and children who know their parents on a deeper human level. And best of all, we’ve watched families grow on a strong foundation of faith in Jesus Christ.
Parents: You want a great relationship with your kids? You want to raise a child to be a strong, thoughtful, empathetic, positive, healthy adult out in the world some day? You can’t buy that. You have to invest in it. And the investment is the most expensive currency you own – your TIME – aimed at that most precious young person in your life.
