Eight Administrative Teams are organized around specialized areas of ministry for Faith Lutheran and Journey in Faith. There are 6-10 members on each team, each elected for a two year term. Each team meets monthly to plan and direct their areas. (Most meet on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm.)
These are the folks that put the “welcome” into our church slogan; “We welcome you wherever you are on your faith journey”. They direct the new member partnership process and help prospective partners learn about our congregation. They also work to bring the Gospel to those without a church home, and to deepen their faith and encourage participation within this congregation.
Faith Formation Team
Membership on this team requires a high level of commitment and we are blessed to have fellow members who make that pledge. They are responsible for the Christian nurture of children, youth, and adults in the congregation through various forms of educational programs. They also provide ways for our senior high youth to practice their faith through social activities and biblical studies. The challenge is to be visionary when that is appropriate, to roll up their sleeves when tasks need to be done, and to be creative in how we utilize our facility and our resources.
Social Ministry Team
These are the people who respond to the needs of members and others within our Fargo-Moorhead community, and also to ones in our global out-reach communities. They keep us informed about needs and tell us how we can help . . . demonstrating God’s love in a practical way by caring for others, and extending our journey in faith as Jesus taught us.
To offer a variety of worship formats our worship team coordinators are blessed with creativity, yet always supported by guidance and experience of our pastoral staff. We need people who are open to new ideas, and who know that people of our congregation worship in different styles. The Worship Team helps find this guided balance between the traditional and the contemporary services. They also oversee the worship volunteer coordinator who arranges for and trains ushers, communion assistants, deacons, and scripture readers.
We welcome those who have knowledge of property management and also those people with good common sense and willingness to learn. The group often helps with physical maintenance of our buildings. These people take pride in seeing that our facilities exemplify and reflect God’s glory.
God commands us all to be good stewards…encouraging us to give our time and God given gifts of our abilities and finances. This team looks at the gifts of our members and, also, the financial welfare of our ministry. They let us know what it takes to meet program and maintenance budgets.
Lay Ministry Team
This team serves as a support group to our pastors, and ensures a good work environment for our lay staff. It requires members who can deal with sensitive issues with confidentiality. This group also exercises leadership in calling a new pastor when an expansion opportunity occurs.
This team has the responsibility of recruiting people to fill openings on all the administrative teams. They inspire people to practice their leadership, which keeps our congregation moving smoothly in fulfilling our glorious mission.
